Cruise holidays
Cruising is close to my heart. I spent many years working on cruise ships, so I know what life on board is really like and how much the right ship, route and cabin can shape your holiday.
You unpack once and wake up somewhere new, with your meals, entertainment and travel between ports taken care of. Whether you fancy a big ocean ship with lots going on, a smaller, quieter one or a gentle river cruise, I’ll help you find one that suits you.
What’s usually included
Every trip is different, so this is a general guide. I’ll always confirm exactly what’s included in your booking before you pay.
Often included
- your cabin, from inside cabins to balconies and suites
- meals in the main dining room and buffet restaurant
- evening entertainment such as shows and live music
- pools, many on-board activities and the fitness centre
- travel between your ports of call
- on many river cruises, more is included, such as some drinks or excursions, depending on the line
Often extra
- drinks packages and many drinks
- shore excursions
- gratuities or service charges, depending on the line
- speciality restaurants
- Wi-Fi
- spa treatments
- flights or transfers to the port, unless they’re part of a fly-cruise package
Good to know
- Ocean or river. Ocean ships range from big resorts at sea to small, quieter ships. River cruises are usually smaller and more relaxed, often docking right in town.
- Your cabin. Inside, outside, balcony or suite: the choice affects the price and how you’ll use your space. Location on the ship can matter too if you’re prone to seasickness.
- Getting to the ship. Some cruises leave from UK ports, which means no flights. Others are fly-cruises, where you fly to meet the ship.
- Each line has its own style. Dress codes, what’s included, the age range on board and the overall atmosphere vary, so it’s worth matching the line to you.
Who it suits
First-timers, couples, families and multi-generation groups, and anyone who wants to see several places without repacking.
Ideas to get you thinking

- Norwegian fjords

- Canary Islands
- Baltic and Northern Europe
- Alaska
- Rhine and Danube river cruises
- Nile river cruises
How I can help
- Matching you to a ship and line whose style suits you
- Explaining what’s included and what’s likely to be extra, so there are fewer surprises on board
- Helping you choose a cabin type and location
- Arranging flights, hotels before or after, or transfers where you need them
